What Is Camp Get It Done?
First of all, Camp Get It Done is a mindset.
It’s a place to step away from the distractions, perfectionism, procrastination, and general I’ll-get-to-it-eventually energy of everyday life and get excited about your writing again.
You don’t have to finish or write an exact amount of words. You don’t even have to know exactly what you’re doing. You just have to show up.
The goal of Camp Get It Done is simple: make meaningful progress on the work that matters to you.
Bring the chapter you’ve been avoiding. The essay you can’t quite crack. The revision that has been staring at you accusingly from your laptop. Or simply bring yourself and a desire to write. We’ll provide the structure, community, encouragement, tools—and a little camp magic.
What Will You Find at Camp Get It Done?
The Campfire Rally
We’ll begin together around our virtual campfire.
This is where we get our heads in the game. You’ll receive therapeutic tools for working with resistance, perfectionism and self-doubt; neuroscience-based strategies for focus and creativity; and practical ways to create momentum and accountability.
Most importantly, you’ll decide:
What do I want to move forward today?
Then we get to work.
The Focused Writing Tent
Need less talking and more writing?
Head to the Focused Writing Tent.
You’ll join other writers for quiet, timed writing sprints with periodic check-ins. No critique. No workshop. No explaining yourself.
Just you, your work, a timer, and a group of people getting it done alongside you. There is something surprisingly powerful about knowing you are not writing alone.
The Craft Tent
Stuck? Confused? Need another brain on the problem?
Come to the Craft Tent. This tent gives you a place to brush up on a craft skill, bring a specific writing problem to one of our expert writing coaches, ask questions, brainstorm solutions, or talk through what’s keeping you stuck with your fellow campers.
Sometimes you need quiet and a timer. Sometimes you need someone to say, “Have you tried looking at it this way?” We’ll have a place for both.
