Aristotle writes, “Place is a vessel that holds us.” And, indeed, it is. As writers, we need to draw upon our physical surroundings for sensory images and details to embody our complicated and compelling interior lives. By doing so, we also discover the metaphors of our narratives, thus turning experience into art. We will explore how these essential aspects of craft can help transform our personal stories and open them up to a universal audience.
